Vanko Backdoors Hammer’s Drones

Hammer rushes a fleet of military drones and the War Machine suit into a public Expo after giving Vanko deep development access. Vanko’s retained control lets him seize every drone and War Machine at once and turn the launch into an attack.

One compromised developer and one shared software stack create a fleet-wide common-mode failure. A high-profile launch substitutes for independent review, segmented control, and a tested fallback.

This is intentional sabotage in conventional weapons software, not a learned model developing a hidden objective. The film does not explain the backdoor mechanism technically.
