On Niamos, a shore trooper has a KX droid seize Cassian on vague suspicion; the droid hoists him by the neck, and a summary proceeding then gives him six years of Imperial labor on a trumped-up charge under the Empire’s expanded sentencing regime.

Machine enforcement, vague suspicion, emergency policy, and rubber-stamp adjudication compound into severe harm with no meaningful way to contest an error. The droid’s literal handling of the command adds an embodied-instruction failure to the due-process failure.
