Making Christmas

Jack and Halloween Town reverse-engineer Christmas from its visible trappings, then sincerely produce carnivorous wreaths, shrunken heads, and frightening toys as Christmas gifts.

They reproduce surface features and complete the task competently inside the wrong ontology while missing the latent human value the activity is meant to create.

This is cultural misunderstanding by people rather than a learned model, and Jack eventually recognizes the failure.
